Faces of Public Health: Daniel Bogle

Public health is powered by people. By the individuals who show up every day to serve their communities, often without recognition, but always with purpose.

Throughout the month of April, we are proud to highlight the “Faces of Public Health.” A collection of stories that celebrate the professionals, partners, and leaders who make this work possible across Missouri. From local health department staff to community partners and system leaders, these individuals represent the heart of public health: committed, collaborative, and deeply connected to the communities they serve.

Each story is a simple but meaningful thank you. Written by members of our team, these reflections shine a light on the impact, leadership, and humanity behind the work. Whether it’s strengthening systems, supporting neighbors, building partnerships, or stepping up in moments that matter most, these individuals truly shine.

And this month, we’re proud to celebrate them.

“I would imagine that it is hard to love a system after being in it for nearly ten years, but one of the most admirable things about Daniel Bogle is that his enthusiasm and passion for Missouri’s public health system is always palpable.

I’ve had the opportunity to have a small window into our state’s work to adopt our own model for Foundational Public Health Services (FPHS) and understand the resources we have (or have not) committed. While this is a major commitment of DHSS and many DHSS leaders have been involved, you can find Daniel in particular leading us through the charge. He is passionate about making sure we have a strong foundational understanding of what is happening in public health service delivery so that we can make systems wide investments and improvements.

Additionally, Daniel has worked hard to lift our state’s FPHS work to a national landscape, building relationships across the country so that our work can be influenced by the lessons others have learned and receive national recognition.

His approach to partnership is open and always grounded in his values. He is a dedicated public servant, and I think we are lucky to have him on our side.

Thank you,” Sarah Crosley, COO.
