At the Missouri Public Health Institute, our mission grounds us in what we do and why we do it. But our vision keeps our eyes on the future.

 

Our vision — a strong, united public health system for every Missouri community — is about where we are going together and what kind of public health system we believe is possible. It helps us stay focused not only on today’s work, but on the long-term change we are working toward for Missouri and the people who call this state home.

 

In the reflections below, MOPHI COO Sarah Crosley shares why this vision matters to her, and how it captures the heart of the work we strive to do every day.

 

“Our vision is “a strong, united public health system for every Missouri community.” As our mission grounds us in what we do and why we do it, our vision keeps our focus on the future and what we want to achieve.

 

What I love about this vision is that it is actually attainable. It’ll take some hard work to unite and strengthen our system so that public health can meet the needs of all our unique communities, but I believe that our state has the potential and the ability to make this vision real. Already, Missourians benefit every day from the hard work public health does in their community, but we know that there are gaps in the system, which means people and their families are being missed.

 

A strong, united public health system for every Missouri community means that partners work together to respond to local needs; that communities are prepared for emerging issues; and that every Missourian can live their healthiest life. What I love about the Missouri Public Health Institute, and why I love working here, is that we are committed to the long-term solutions we know will result in a better system overall. Every day, my work contributes to moving our state forward and achieving our vision.”
